DoD 101.  The information on this web site is intended to provide the public with a basic understanding of how the Department of Defense is organized and what it does to defend the nation. The site discusses, in broad-brush terms, the roles of the President, the Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, what the military services do, and how DoD carries out its missions. 
 

 

ACQWeb.  This is the official web site of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (AT&L). This site contains vast amounts of information about the acquisition functions, activities, and projects of the Department of Defense. The mission of the Undersecretary of Defense for AT&L is to advise the Secretary of Defense on all matters pertaining to the Department of Defense's acquisition process, research and development; advanced technology; test and evaluation; production; logistics; military construction; procurement; economic security; and atomic energy. SADBU.  The Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (SADBU) is often cited as the gateway to small business access to contracting opportunities within the Department of Defense.  The stated mission of this office is "to enable the Warfighter to gain access to Small Business' efficiency, innovation and creativity."  Expore this website for general information about doing business with the DoD, including opportunities for minorities and women.  You will also find information on this website about upcoming conferences and events that may benefit your business. 
 
 
Selling to the Military.  This handbook is an introduction to the broad subject of contracting with agencies of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). It is intended to be useful to those who manage the marketing efforts of small businesses, especially firms that have not previously had Government contracts. The handbook contains general information about contracting. It provides lists of products and services, keyed to particular major buying offices. 
 
 
Defense Acquisition Deskbook.  This is a web-based automated reference tool sponsored by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics USD(AT&L). The Deskbook originated from an Acquisition Reform initiative aimed at reducing directives while helping acquisition professionals make informed decisions.  An invaluable tool for any company doing business with the Department of Defense.  You can get updates to the Deskbook by subscribing to AcqNOW, a FREE and voluntary service that alerts you to new and changing acquisition information.
 
 
Defense Budget. Hosted by the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense (Controller) this site provides useful information about the DoD budget process, as well as plans for procurement spending. Budget information goes back as far as 1998.  You will also find information about budget reprogramming and transfer actions on this website.
 

DAR Directorate. If you are looking for information about the Defense Acquisition Regulations (DAR) System, this is a great place to start. The DAR System is responsible for DoD contracting regulations. It writes, edits, coordinates, publishes, distributes and maintains the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and, in coordination with the General Services Administration, performs the same functions for the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). The DAR Directorate is responsible for overall management of the regulations and for ensuring that the regulations serve the interests of DoD. 
 

 

DoDBusOpps. DoDBusOpps.com is an electronic portal for vendors to identify business opportunities within the DoD Components. This site indexes open and active solicitation data from multiple sources (the US Army, the US Air Force, the Defense Logistics Agency, and the US Navy, among others), providing a central source for over 70% of the Defense Department’s opportunities. You can search From this site, you can link to other online resources such as the Central Contractor Registration (CCR), Federal Supply Classification (FSC) Codes, NAICS Codes, etc.
