Center for Political and Economic Studies.
The Joint Center is a think tank that focuses on issues of special
concern to black Americans and other minorities. Research
projects comprise a major component of this organization's activities. Areas of study include politics and elections, social issues, economic policy issues,
and international affairs.

Bureau for Economic Research. Dedicated to
promoting a greater understanding of how the economy works.
Economists within the Bureau's programs meet periodically to
discuss their work and to further their research efforts.
Researchers report their findings in scientific papers aimed at
other professional economists in academic institutions,
business, government, and the business media around the world.

Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
"The NAACP's principal objective is to ensure the
political, educational, social and economic equality of minority
group citizens of United States and eliminate race prejudice.
The NAACP seeks remove all barriers of racial discrimination
through democratic processes. This mission is accomplished by
seeking the enactment and enforcement of federal, state and
local laws securing civil rights, and by informing the public of
the adverse effects of racial discrimination."

Center for Policy Analysis. Identifies and
promotes ideas on key public policy issues including Social
Security reform, tax reform, health care, and education.
Focus is on seeking private alternatives to government
regulation and control, solving problems by relying on the
strengths of the competitive, entrepreneurial private

for-profit corporations market products."

Priorities Project. NPP
is a community education, research and training organization
dedicated to making the nation's budget priorities something
that ordinary citizens can help shape and understand.
Analyzes and disseminates information about Federal spending at
the national, state and local levels.

Taxpayers Union. A grassroots taxpayer
organization that "lobbies Congress and state legislatures,
educates politicians and the media on important taxpayer issues
and teaches its members how to become effective, united citizen
lobbyists."

OMB
Watch. Tracks activities of the Office of
Management and Budget (OMB) and related agencies in an effort to
ensure public accountability. Among its chief areas of
focus are the national budget and government performance issues,
as well as regulatory and government accountability matters.

Policy Institute. "The mission of the
Progressive Policy Institute is to define and promote a new
progressive politics for America in the 21st century. Through
its research, policies, and perspectives, the Institute is
fashioning a new governing philosophy and an agenda for public
innovation geared to the Information Age."

job is to help improve policy and decisionmaking through
research and analysis." Areas of expertise include
child policy, civil and criminal justice, education, environment
and energy, health, international policy, labor markets,
